ATHENS, Ga. -- The No. 26 ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team opened their final regular season road weekend of the season with a 4-0 loss at No. 5 Georgia Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
The Rebels had a chance to take the doubles point. After Georgia won the No. 1 match, Mai El Kamash and Erin Stephens won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. The point came down to No. 3, where Marija Milutinovic and Iris Verboven led 7-5. They served for it and had a match point, but the Georgia duo of Laura Patterson and Hannah King rallied to win the match in a tiebreaker, 8-7(3) to give the Bulldogs the early 1-0 lead.
Georgia (16-4, 9-1) picked up straight set wins at five, two and six in that order to close out the Rebels.Â
Senior Julia Jones, ranked No. 14, did not finish her match against No. 6 Lauren Herring. Jones won the first set in a tiebreaker and led 1-0 in the second. She remains at 98 wins for her career.
The Rebels (11-9, 3-8) head to Knoxville Sunday to face Tennessee at 12 p.m. CT.
