OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss women's tennis team has enjoyed an excellent season, advancing to the NCAA second round and ranking in the top 25 all year. Two Rebels who helped make that happen were honored Tuesday with ITA Southern Regional Awards.  Â
Jones becomes the fourth player in program history to be named ITA Regional Senior of the Year, a list that includes current volunteer assistant coach Kristi Boxx.
"Julia has had an outstanding year, and it's not over yet," head coach Mark Beyers said. "She's accomplished a lot and we are very proud of the career she's had. I know she is looking forward to the NCAA Championships next week and trying to end on a memorable note."
Jones became the seventh Rebel to join the 100-club in singles and earned All-SEC first team honors. She is currently ranked No. 10 in the nation and is seeded 9-16 in the upcoming NCAA Singles Championships. At 29-10, Jones is seeking to become the 10th Rebel to record 30 wins in a season.
Hartono got off to a great start in her freshman campaign rising to No. 33 in the singles rankings, before an injury sidelined her for the final six regular season SEC matches and the SEC Tournament. She returned to the singles lineup last weekend for the NCAA Championships, and went 1-1. Hartono finished the year with an 18-10 overall record, 9-6 at No. 2 singles, and made the SEC All-Freshman Team.
"Arianne was headed towards a fantastic season before the injury," head coach Beyers said. "Still, she had a great freshman season. This is just the beginning of what she can accomplish in her career here at Ole Miss."
