OXFORD, Miss. -- Julia Jones cemented her legacy in Ole Miss women's tennis history with an outstanding senior year. Wednesday she capped it with a ranking of No. 12 in the final Oracle/ITA Singles Rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Jones earned the highest final ranking by a Rebel in singles since four-time All-American Agnes Muzamel ended the 1999 season ranked No. 8.

From beginning her career at No. 4 singles, Jones rose to the elite ranks of collegiate tennis her senior year, earning the ITA National Most Improved Player Award.  Jones became the 11th All-American in program history and the seventh member of the 100-club, finishing her career with 103 wins.  She earned first team All-SEC honors and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor's degree in accountancy.

The Rebels ended the year ranked No. 24 and earned their seventh consecutive NCAA appearance. While Jones had a lot to do with that, freshmen Arianne Hartono and Natalie Suk made big contributions in their first season.  Hartono finished the year ranked No. 79, and was on pace for a lot higher finish until she got injured and missed the final six matches of the regular season. Suk earned a final ranking of No. 122.

Ole Miss had three teams in the final doubles rankings with Jones and Suk (64), seniors Erin Stephens and Iris Verboven (68) and Stephens and Mai El Kamash (86).
