Three Rebels Find Top-25 at Shoal Creek Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Three Rebels posted top-25 finishes, as Ole Miss wrapped up play at the Graeme McDowell Shoal Creek Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama Tuesday.
Junior Ben Wolcott carded an even-par 72 in the final round and finished the tournament in a tie for ninth at 217 after posting seven birdies through 54 holes. Senior Forrest Gamble fired a 2-over 74 in the third round and finished tied for 20th with a three-round total of 220. Freshman Braden Thornberry also finished in a tie for 20th after posting a 3-over 75 Tuesday en route to a two-day total of 220.
"It was a very disappointing day for sure," said Ole Miss head coach Chris Malloy. "We got off to a very good start, but really stumbled on the back nine. We have to learn to battle through rough stretches better than we have so far this season."
Junior Noah West finished in a tie for 50th after posting a three-round total of 228, while senior Connor Davis finished in 65th place with a two-day total of 239. As a team, Ole Miss finished in ninth with a team score of 885, while host UAB won the tournament with a score of 851.
"These guys are working extremely hard, and I know that we will start to see that hard work pay off soon," Malloy said. "The good news is that we get right back into action this weekend at Erin Hills. I know that guys will be eager to play some good golf."
