Rebels Face First Road Test

OXFORD, Miss. - After opening the 2015 season at home, the Ole Miss women's volleyball team faces its first road test at the Hilton Garden Inn Cary Invitational hosted by North Carolina State. The tournament also features Delaware and Jacksonville.
The Rebels will face NC State first up in the tournament Friday at 6 p.m. CT. On Saturday, the Rebels will play Delaware at 9 a.m., followed by Jacksonville at 3:30 p.m. CT.
Ole Miss fans can watch Friday's match against the Wolfpack, as it will be streamed free on the web.
LAST TIME OUT
After sweeping all three matches to capture their eighth Magnolia Invitational title in nine years, Ole Miss split a pair of matches on Tuesday, defeating McNeese State 3-1 before falling to UT Martin 3-2 in the night cap of the tri-match. Nakeyta Clair led the Rebels against UT Martin with 16 kills and hit .464, but it was not enough, as the Skyhawks rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win the final two sets.
500-CLUB
Head coach Steven McRoberts came into his first year at Ole Miss with an impressive record and he added to it with the Rebels posting a 22-10 record in 2014. The Rebel mentor reached the 500-win club on Tuesday in the Rebels's 3-1 win vs. McNeese State. McRoberts entered the 2015 season ranked 25th in the NCAA in wins and 13th in winning percentage.
SCOUTING NC STATE
NC State enters the weekend at 3-0. The Wolfpack swept the South Carolina Tournament last week, including a 3-0 win over the host Gamecocks. Julia Brown posted a team-high 3.11 kills per set, and Maggie Speaks had 9.44 assists per set.
REBELS VS. NC STATE
Ole Miss and NC State have been twice before with each team winning once. In their last meeting, the Wolfpack defeated the Rebels 3-0 in the 2005 Magnolia Invitational.
A LOOK AT DELAWARE
Delaware opened its season with the UCF Invitational where they went 1-2 in three five-set matches. Outside hitter Autumn Jenkins led the Blue Hens with 3.93 kills per set, Julia Anderson dished out 9.57 assists per set, and Ariel Shonk had 5.07 digs per set.
REBELS VS. DELAWARE
Delaware won the only prior meeting between the two teams, 2-0 in 1979 at the Princeton Invitational.
ABOUT JACKSONVILLE
The Dolphins had a successful outing last weekend at the War Eagle Invite, where they finished 2-1 with wins over Samford and Stephen F. Austin and suffered a five-set loss to Auburn. Emily Laskelle and Kelly Koop were named to the All-Tournament team, and Mayara Prestes earned her second career Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award.
REBELS VS. JACKSONVILLE
Jacksonville leads the all-time series 2-0. In the previous meeting in 1989 at the Jacksonville Invitational, the Dolphins won 3-0.
