In the eighth of an 11-part series introducing the Ole Miss Softball newcomers for the 2016 season, today we get to know freshman Ashton Lampton.

What made you choose Ole Miss?
I chose Ole Miss because I fell in love with the campus on my first visit and everyone was super nice. It is also very close to where I live so my family will get to watch me play a lot.

What do you like most about Ole Miss and Oxford?
I love the football games and how close everyone is.

What is your favorite part about being an athlete at Ole Miss?
Getting to be a part of FedEx and representing Ole Miss in a positive way.

What is your favorite Ole Miss tradition?
When the student section locks The Vaught.

Do you have any superstitions that are habits before each game?
I never step on the chalked line and I always have the same routine before I go up to hit.

What is your go-to hangout place? My friends and I always go to the Mexican restaurant on Jackson Avenue.
Team you're looking most forward to playing on the 2016 schedule? Tennessee, because they had a very good season last year and my best friend plays there.
What is your dream profession/career? Physical therapist
