Rebel Softball Recognized for Academic Success

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss Softball was recognized for its off-field academic success last week, being named a 2015-16 Easton/NFCA Division I All-Academic Team.

The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across seven membership divisions, as student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA or better earn Easton/NFCA Division I All-America Scholar-Athlete status. Current Rebels Kylan Becker, Elisha Jahnke, Dakota Matiko, Paige McKinney and Miranda Strother earned the award, while former players Kennedy Cline, Alyssa Invergo and Bri Payne also were named All-America Scholar Athletes.

As a team the 2015-16 Rebels posted a 3.22 overall GPA, 81st among 295 Division I softball programs across the country. The 3.22 also ranked seventh among 13 SEC programs, and 14th among all of the NCAA's power five schools.

Overall, 5,152 softball players earned the honor for the 2015-16 year, including 1,240 honorees from Division I.
