Men's Golf Finishes Second in Milwaukee

RIVER HILLS, WISC. - Senior Ben Wolcott finished tied for third to help the Ole Miss men's golf team at a second-place finish at the Marquette Intercollegiate Monday.
Wolcott carded four birdies on the day to finish the final round with his lowest score of 2-under par 68 at Milwaukee Country Club. The Dickson, Tennessee native improved each round, posting 71-69-68--208 for the tournament. He finished one stroke behind co-medalists Ryan Lumsden of Northwestern and Gary Townsend of SMU.
"Ben and Braden Thornberry have led us all season long and continued that today," said head coach Chris Malloy. "They both have given our team a chance to win in each of our first three events. They are playing as well as any other duo in the country at this point."
Ole Miss finished with a team score of 1-over par 841, the second-lowest team score in head coach Chris Malloy's tenure. The Rebels earned another top-three team finish after finishing second at The Ocean Course Invitational and winning the FAMC Intercollegiate at The Grove.
"I am really proud of the way that our guys fought out there today," said Malloy. "We certainly didn't have our best ball striking round and they found a way to piece it together and move up the leaderboard. That's the sign of a good team."
Sophomore Braden Thornberry eagled the 531 yard, par-5 No. 3 en route to a even-par 70 finish in the final round to finish tied for tenth overall. Redshirt Sophomore Josh Seiple tied a tournament-low round of 18 score in the second round by firing a 3-under 67 to finish with a tournament score of 214 and tied for 22nd. Redshirt Senior Noah West birdied in three of his final six holes to finish the final round at even-par 70 and tied for 25th overall. Junior Kerry Sweeney post two birdies and just one bogey to finish the third round with a 1-under 69 and tied for 29th on the tournament. In his debut as a Rebel, Chip Getz finished tied for 43rd with a tournament score of 74-76-73--223.
