Rebels to Battle LSU Wednesday

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss volleyball team continues a three-match homestand Wednesday night as they welcome LSU for an SEC Network showdown. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. from The Pavilion at Ole Miss.
This marks the third consecutive meeting between Ole Miss and LSU to be televised on the SEC Network and the first of two meetings this year. The Rebels (12-4, 1-2) will travel to Baton Rouge Nov. 4.

รโข Ole Miss defeated Arkansas 3-2 last Sunday in its only match of the week. The Rebels danced with the Razorbacks as the set winner alternated resulting in a five set win for Ole Miss.
รโข The NCAA released the first volleyball RPI of the season, and the Rebels are at No. 78.
รโข It marked the Rebels' third consecutive win against Arkansas and second straight at home.
รโข Sophomore right side Kathryn Cather recorded a career-high 20 kills on a .621 clip, marking her third straight match to hit above .400. She also added 3 service aces, 5 digs and 3 blocks.
รโข In addition to tying her career high of 21 digs, junior outside hitter Lexi Thompson added 9 kills, 2 service aces and 3 blocks.
รโข Junior outside hitter Kate Gibson posted her eighth double-double of the year with 10 kills and 13 digs.
รโข Senior setter Aubrey Edie tallied 48 assists to help the Rebels hit .246 on the night.
รโข Junior middle blocker Taylor Alexander got back on the right track with 8 kills on a .462 hitting percentage.
รโข Lexi Thompson is making her way up the Ole Miss charts. With 802 kills she ranks 10th all-time and needs 56 to move into ninth place. With 740 career digs, Thompson needs just 19 to move into the top 10 at Ole Miss.
รโข Aubrey Edie recorded her 4,000th career assist in the win over Tennessee State and now has 4,219. She ranks sixth in the SEC with 10.6 assists per set.
รโข Taylor Alexander ranks fourth in the SEC with a .381 attack percentage.
รโข Kate Gibson ranks ninth in the SEC with 3.55 kills per set and ninth in points per set at 3.93. Lexi Thompson ranks 12th in points per set at 3.73 and leads the SEC in double-doubles with 10. Gibson is tied for second with eight double-doubles.
Scouting LSU
LSU comes into the match at 5-10 overall and 0-4 in the SEC. They are coming off a 3-0 loss to Missouri on Sunday at home. Senior middle blocker Tiara Gibson tied her career high with 14 kills. Junior outside hitter Gina Tillis leads the Tigers with 3.17 kills per set, while junior defensive specialist Cheyenne Wood averages 3.78 digs per set.
Rebels vs. Tigers
LSU leads the all-time series 53-13, but the Rebels won last year's meeting 3-1 in Oxford to secure the best home record (13-5) in school history.
Louisiana Rebels
The Rebels boast two players on the roster from Louisiana. Junior middle blocker Taylor Alexander hails from Breaux Bridge and sophomore defensive specialist Caroline Adams hails from Lafayette.
Cather Named SEC Player of the Week
Following a highly contested match Sunday night against Arkansas, in which sophomore right side Kathryn Cather led the Rebels to their first SEC win of the season, the Hoover, Alabama native was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week Monday. This marks the first SEC weekly honor for Cather, who ranks sixth in the SEC with a .358 hitting percentage and second in hitting percentage (.551) for SEC matches only. Cather's 163 kills are attributed to her 10'2" vertical, a huge component of the Rebels 12-4 record. Sunday night, Cather recorded a career-high 20 kills on a .621 clip, marking her third straight match to break her personal record and hit above .400. She also added 3 service aces, 5 digs and 3 blocks.
