PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. --
On day two of the Riviera ITA All-American Championships, Ole Miss women's tennis junior Arianne Hartono beat two top 25 opponents in the consolation to reach the semifinals.

In the first round, Hartono rallied to top 24th-ranked Paige Hourigan of Georgia Tech, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(2).

A little while later, she took to the court again to face 21st-ranked Caroline Brinson of Georgia. Brinson also had a three-setter in her first round.

After going up 5-1 in the first, Hartono had to fend off a rally from Brinson who tied it at 5-5. The two would exchange service holds and go to a tiebreaker, where Hartono won 7-6(3). In the second set, Hartono went up 3-1, before Brinson tied it up again at 4-4. At 5-5, Hartono won the final two games for 7-5 to advance to the semifinals.

"Arianne showed a lot of fight and tenacity to get through these two matches," associate head coach Jason Ontog said. "She faced some tough situations against some very good players but overcame them well."

Hartono will face her third straight top 25 opponent Saturday in Miami's Sinead Lohan, who is ranked No. 5 in the nation.
