Volleyball to Host Tennessee and Kentucky this Weekend

OXFORD, Miss. -
Kick off the weekend with a tripleheader of action at The Pavilion at Ole Miss Friday. Ole Miss volleyball hosts Tennessee in the annual Kids Day game at 11 a.m., followed by women's basketball at 2:30 p.m. and men's basketball at 6 p.m. in their season openers.

The Rebels are looking to break the attendance record for a single match and would like to encourage everyone to join the team at The Pavilion with kids from around the Oxford area. Admission is free.

Following Friday's match, the Rebels will welcome No. 24 Kentucky to The Pavilion Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Quick hits…
• The Rebels split a pair of matches on the road this past weekend, topping LSU 3-1 and falling in five to Auburn. It marked the second time this season and third straight match overall against Auburn to be decided in five.

• Junior Kate Gibson recorded her 11th and 12th double-doubles of the season with a total of 27 kills and 28 digs on the weekend.

• In the match at Auburn, Kate Gibson went over 1,000 kills for her entire career, which includes 380 at Memphis.

• Senior Aubrey Edie also posted consecutive double-doubles, finishing the weekend with 81 assists and 26 digs. In the win at LSU, Edie also added seven kills, two service aces and five blocks.

• Junior Lexi Thompson notched her 16th double-double in the Auburn match with 18 kills and 10 digs.

• Freshman Emily Stroup tied her career high with nine kills against Auburn. She also contributed six kills in the win at LSU.

• Freshman Nayo Warnell tallied seven kills on a .357 clip and added four blocks against Auburn, after hitting .357 at LSU with six kills and seven blocks.

• Five players tallied double-digit digs against Auburn, with sophomore Caroline Adams posting 18 and freshman Nicole Purcell 10.

• Lexi Thompson is making her way up the Ole Miss charts. With 937 kills she ranks sixth all-time and needs 63 to record her 1,000th kill and move up to fifth. With 19 digs this past weekend, Thompson now has 844 in her career, which ranks eighth. She needs 14 to move up to seventh all-time.

• With 360 kills this season, Kate Gibson needs just seven to set the single season record, held by Rebel All-American Nakeyta Clair. Lexi Thompson is hot on her heels with 344 kills.

Scouting Tennessee…
Tennessee comes into Friday's match at 15-10 overall and 5-7 in the SEC. They are coming off consecutive losses at home to Missouri (3-1) and on the road at Texas A&M (3-0). The Vols are led by freshman outside hitter Tessa Grubbs, who ranks sixth in the SEC with 3.71 kills per set. Sophomore middle blocker Erica Treiber ranks fourth in the league at a .367 clip. Freshman setter Sedona Hansen is third in the SEC with 11.20 assists per set helping Tennessee rank fourth overall with a .261 hitting percentage.

Scouting Kentucky…
Kentucky enters Sunday's match ranked No. 24 at 19-6 overall, 12-2 in the SEC. They downed Arkansas 3-0 Wednesday in their last action. The Wildcats are led by freshman outside hitter Leah Edmond, who ranks third in the conference with 4.18 kills per set. Junior middle blocker Kaz Brown is among the league's top hitters at .365. She hit .643 against Arkansas with 11 kills. Sophomore Olivia Dailey directs the attack and ranks second in the SEC with 11.58 assists per set. Junior libero Ashley Dusek is ranks second in the league with 4.65 digs per set.

Thompson Doubling Up…
Junior outside hitter Lexi Thompson ranks second in the SEC in double-doubles with 16, one behind Auburn's Alexa Filley. Thompson recorded her 16th at Auburn with 18 kills and 16 digs. For her career, Thompson has 29 double-doubles.

Gibson Doubles Up Too…
Junior outside hitter Kate Gibson posted her 12th double-double with 16 kills and 14 digs at Auburn and ranks third behind teammate Lexi Thompson and Auburn's Alexa Filley.

Thompson Making Her Way Up Career Ladder…
Lexi Thompson is making her way up the career charts at Ole Miss in kills and digs. With 937 career kills, Thompson ranks sixth all-time and needs 63 to move to fifth. She is also on pace to add her name once again to the single season list with 344 this year. She already holds the single-season kills record by a freshman with 324 in 2014. With 850 career digs, Thompson ranks eighth and needs eight to move into seventh.

Gibson Chasing Single Season Kills Record…
With 360 kills to date, Kate Gibson is chasing the single season record of 366 set by former All-American Nakeyta Clair in 2014. She needs seven kills for the record.
