Rebels to Face Mississippi State Wednesday

OXFORD, Miss. â€" With four matches remaining on the season, the Ole Miss volleyball team looks to finish on a high note starting with a match at arch-rival Mississippi State Wednesday. First serve is slated for 7 p.m., and the match will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
Tiffany Greene and Olympic Gold Medalist Dain Blainton will have the call on the SEC Network. This marks the sixth match of the season for the Rebels to be on television and the third time on the SEC Network.

• The Rebels split a pair of matches this past weekend, downing Tennessee 3-0 in their annual Kids Day game and then falling to No. 24 Kentucky 3-1 on Sunday.
• Ole Miss set a single-match attendance record in the win over Tennessee with 3,775.
• The Rebels finished with a .319 hitting percentage against Tennessee, their highest in conference play this season.
• Junior outside hitter Kate Gibson broke the single-season record for kills in the win over Tennessee and now has 385 to date. Gibson eclipsed the record previously held by All-American Nakeyta Clair. Fellow junior outside hitter Lexi Thompson is hot on her heels with 376 kills.
• Kate Gibson posted her 13th double-double of the season with 16 kills and 13 digs against Tennessee. Gibson has recorded double-digit kills in all but three matches this season.
• Junior outside hitter Lexi Thompson notched her 17th double-double of the season with 16 kills and 10 digs. She added 16 kills vs. Kentucky, marking the 22nd match of the season for Thompson to have double-digit kills.
• Senior setter Aubrey Edie posted her fourth straight double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs against Kentucky after posting 41 assists and 13 digs in the win over Tennessee. She now has 11 on the season.
• Lexi Thompson is making her way up the Ole Miss charts. With 969 kills she ranks sixth all-time and needs 31 to record her 1,000th kill and move up to fifth. With 15 digs on the weekend, Thompson now has 865 in her career, which ranks seventh. She needs 85 to move to up to sixth.
• At Auburn, Kate Gibson recorded her 1,000th career kill and now has 1,035. She is closing in on the 1,000/1,000 mark as well with 919 career digs.
• With 98 blocks so far, junior middle blocker Taylor Alexander needs six to crack the top five for a single season.
• Aubrey Edie recorded her 4,000th career assist in the win over Tennessee State and now has a school-record 4,658. She ranks sixth in the SEC with 10.47 assists per set. Edie is fourth in the NCAA in active career assists.
• Kathryn Cather ranks eighth in the SEC with a .352 hitting percentage.
• Taylor Alexander ranks 11th in the SEC with a .327 attack percentage.
• Kate Gibson ranks ninth in the SEC with 3.56 kills per set and 11th in points per set at 3.91. Lexi Thompson ranks 10th in kills per set (3.48), 10th in points per set (3.92) and is tied for the lead in the SEC in double-doubles with 17. Gibson ranks third with 13 double-doubles and Aubrey Edie is tied for fifth with 11.
Scouting Mississippi State…
Mississippi State enters the match at 12-17 overall, 4-11 in the SEC. They are 9-5 at home. The Bulldogs have lost 10 of their last 11 matches including three straight shutouts. In their last match, State fell 3-0 at LSU. The Bulldogs are led by senior outside hitter Evie Grace Singleton, who ranks fourth in the SEC with 3.99 kills per set and second in the league with 0.42 aces per set and fifth in points per set at 4.58.
Rebels vs. Bulldogs…
Ole Miss holds a 66-22 lead in the all-time series. However, the Bulldogs won both meetings last year in Oxford and Starkville.
Thompson Doubling Up…
Junior outside hitter Lexi Thompson is tied for the lead in the SEC in double-doubles with 17. Thompson recorded her 17th in the win vs. Tennessee with 16 kills and 10 digs. For her career, Thompson has 30 double-doubles.
Gibson Doubles Up Too…
Junior outside hitter Kate Gibson posted her 13th double-double with 16 kills and 13 digs in the win over Tennessee and ranks second in the SEC behind teammate Lexi Thompson and Auburn's Alexa Filley.
Thompson Making Her Way Up Career Ladder…
Lexi Thompson is making her way up the career charts at Ole Miss in kills and digs. With 969 career kills, Thompson ranks sixth all-time and needs 31 to record her 1,000th and move up to fifth. She has also added her name once again to the single season list with 376 this year. She already holds the single-season kills record by a freshman with 324 in 2014 and his chasing teammate Kate Gibson for the top spot. With 865 career digs, Thompson ranks seventh and needs 85 to move into sixth.
Single-Season Kills Record Belongs to Gibson…
With her 16 kills in the win over Tennessee, Kate Gibson set the single season record now with 385. She eclipsed the previous record of 366 set by All-American Nakeyta Clair in 2014. Lexi Thompson is hot on her heels with 376.
1,000 Times Two…
Kate Gibson recorded her 1,000th kill at Auburn and now has 1,035. Her teammate, Lexi Thompson, is closing in on her 1,000th kill as well. With 969, she needs 31. With 919 digs, Gibson is on pace to become the first Rebel to join the 1,000/1,000 club in the rally scoring era. Thompson is right behind needing just 31 kills and 135 digs to do the same.
