Rebel Softball in Hawaii: Wednesday Update

HONOLULU - Thursday afternoon Ole Miss softball will begin its 56-game 2016 campaign. But Wednesday the Rebels took in the final sights and sounds and prepped one last time ahead of the 2016 Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic.
"We started off the day with some nice free time," sophomore Alex Schneider said following the long, but enjoyable Wednesday on the island. "A lot of us were on our own for breakfast and some beach time."
The Rebels took part in their second and final practice at Rainbow Wahine Stadium Wednesday morning before departing on an adventurous afternoon.
"We had a great practice, and then got to go to Pearl Harbor, which was really awesome hearing the history and all the things culturally behind it," Schneider added. "Then we headed over to the Dole Plantation and had some yummy pineapple whip."
The trip to Pearl Harbor included experiences with exhibits and displays, as well as a short boat ride out to the USS Arizona Memorial, the most breathtaking part of the visit.
From there, the Rebels continued their journey around the island before ending up at the beautiful Dole Plantation, where the team was even greeted with an Ole Miss flag hanging from the front entrance.
Now that the free time and sightseeing is over, the Rebels turn their focus to five games beginning Thursday. Ole Miss takes on UMKC in the season opener Thursday at 7:30 p.m. CT/3:30 p.m. HST from Rainbow Wahine Stadium.
