No. 15 Ole Miss Rifle on the Road Again

OXFORD, Miss. -- With their thoughts on the tragic loss of a fellow student-athlete, the No. 15 ranked Ole Miss Rifle team heads to Annapolis, Maryland this weekend for a pair of matches against No. 8 Nebraska and No. 14 Navy at the Bancroft Hall Rifle Range.
This will be the second road trip this week for the Rebels after they dropped a tight match to No. 9 Memphis on Tuesday in Jacksonville, Alabama. They will square off against Navy beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday before facing Nebraska Sunday at 8 a.m.
Rebel Rewind...
In their last action on Tuesday against Memphis, Ole Miss shot a 4622, including a season-high 2291 in smallbore. Freshman Harley Gardner, sophomore Jessica Haig and freshman Randi Loudin finished with a 573 to lead the Rebels. Loudin finished two shy of her personal best. In air rifle, Ole Miss fired a 2331 led by a 587 from Alison Weisz. Jessica Haig turned in a 584, and Kristyn Trump posted a 582.
Looking at Navy...
The Navy rifle team is coming off a loss to No. 1 West Virginia on Thursday. The Midshipmen posted a 4636 aggregate score with a 2297 in smallbore and a 2339 in air rifle. The Mids were led by Daniel Jonas with a 586 in smallbore and Jodi Cull-Host with a 588 in air rifle.
Scouting Nebraska...
Nebraska enters the final regular season weekend before NCAA Qualifiers and the GARC Championships having had a week off from competition. In their last action on Jan. 31, the Huskers narrowly defeated Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio by a score of 4674-4672.
Quoting Head Coach Valerie Boothe...
"Our thoughts are definitely at home right now, but tomorrow we will focus on the task at hand. We have Navy up first and it should be an even match. Nebraska also shoots, so that should give us a preview for Sunday."
