No. 15 Rebels Ready for NCAA Qualifier
2/19/2016 | Rifle
OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 15 ranked Ole Miss rifle team will travel to Jacksonville, Alabama Saturday to compete in the NCAA Qualifier at the Gamecock Rifle Range on the campus of Jacksonville State University.
What's at Stake…
The weekend's score posted at the qualifier will represent 50 percent of the score considered for teams that qualify for NCAAs. The score at the qualifier will be averaged with their three highest scores of the year to determine who is selected for the NCAA Championships. The top eight overall scores will advance to the NCAA Championships. The top individuals not on teams selected will also earn a spot in the NCAAs. The Rebels have had an individual representative in the NCAAs four straight years.
Last Time out…
Last weekend, the Rebels split a pair of matches, edging No. 14 Navy by one center shot and falling to No. 8 Nebraska.
Weisz, Haig Lead the Way…
Junior Alison Weisz and sophomore Jessica Haig have paced the Rebels all season. Weisz leads in smallbore and air rifle with an average of 572 and 590, respectively. Haig is close behind with an average of 570 in smallbore and an average of 586.4 in air rifle.
