No. 19 Rebels fall to Memphis
2/21/2016 | Men's Tennis
OXFORD, Miss. - Rain forced the No. 19 Ole Miss men's tennis team indoors for its match against No. 28 Memphis. It seemed at first the Rebels would run away with the first point, but the Tigers rallied to get the doubles and go on for a 4-1 win Sunday afternoon at the Gillom Sports Center.
Filip Kraljevic and Zvonimir Babic won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Memphis took the No. 3 match 6-3. The point came down to No. 2, where the Rebel tandem of Fabian Fallert and Grey Hamilton were up 4-0 and serving. They ended up with a couple of match points, but the Tiger duo of Ryan Peniston and Felix Rauch rallied to win it in a tiebreaker 7-6(3) to steal the momentum from the Rebels and the 1-0 lead.
Memphis maintained momentum by rallying to win the opening set at No. 2 singles on their way to a straight win. Kraljevic led 4-2 at one point, but Peniston won four straight games to take the set 6-4 and then won the second 6-0 to give Memphis a 2-0 lead.
The Tigers kept their foot on the gas, when Kai Lemke finished off a three-setter against sophomore Gustav Hansson, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

Quoting Head Coach Toby Hansson…
"Memphis got away with the doubles point that we had complete control over. You have to keep playing until the last point, and they did a better job at that. We weren't able to stop the momentum, but credit to Memphis, they did a great job and deserved to win."
