OXFORD, Miss. - While most Ole Miss students are dreaming of spring break and of what beach they'll be on next week, junior Alison Weisz of the rifle team is in Akron, Ohio preparing to compete in her third NCAA Championships.

Competition begins Friday with smallbore at the Louis and Freda Stile Athletics Field House on the campus of Akron University. Air Rifle takes place Saturday.

The Field…
The eight teams participating are Air Force, Alaska Fairbanks, Kentucky, Murray State, Nebraska, Ohio State, TCU, and West Virginia. Weisz is among eight individual competitors in smallbore and air rifle.

Is third time the charm?...
This marks the third time for Weisz to compete in the NCAA Championships, and the second in air rifle. She became the first freshman in program history to qualify for NCAAs in 2014 and competed in air rifle where she finished 16th. Last year, Weisz earned a bid in smallbore.

Schedule of events…
Teams and individual competitors began checking in late Wednesday with Thursday scheduled as a practice day. Smallbore competition takes place Friday. Weisz will compete in the second relay of air rifle at 12:15 p.m., Saturday and the individual finals will be at 2:30 p.m.

Last time out…
In her last action, Weisz finished third at the Great America Rifle Championships (GARC) on Feb. 28, after tying the school record with a 595 to qualify for the finals.

Quoting Head Coach Valerie Boothe…
"We are excited to be here again with Ali. She has worked so hard for this all year. She is mentally tough and ready for this event."

Talking with Weisz…
"I am very excited to be here competing in the NCAA Championships for a third time. I've worked hard all year and it finally paid off at the GARC Championships with tying the school record and finishing third. It's so much fun to be here with all the top teams and shooters, and I am looking forward to the competition."
