No. 22 Rebels Fall to No. 24 Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore Gustav Hansson of the No. 22 ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team defeated 33rd-ranked Elliott Orkin of No. 24 Florida, but that was it for the Rebels on the day as they suffered a 6-1 loss at the Ring Tennis Complex Sunday.
Florida took the early lead by winning at Nos. 3 and 2 doubles in that order. Filip Kraljevic and Zvonimir Babic were serving for a big win against No. 2 Diego Hidalgo and Gordon Watson when Florida clinched the point 6-4 at No. 2.
The Gators maintained momentum in singles getting quick wins at three and four to go up 3-0. They closed out the Rebels in straight sets at six.
Hansson was the lone winner, defeating Orkin 6-4, 6-7(3), 10-8.
Notables…
• Ole Miss dropped to 7-6 overall, 2-4 in the SEC. They head to No. 13 Arkansas next Sunday for a Noon CT match.
• Gustav Hansson improved to 17-8 overall, 8-3 at No. 2 singles. He is now 4-2 in the SEC.

"We lost a close doubles point. In singles we worked hard and created some opportunities, but we were not able to take advantage of them today and put pressure on Florida. I know this team will bounce back from this loss."
