LEADING OFF

  • Ole Miss hosts Memphis Tuesday in its 31st non-conference game of 2016.
  • The Rebels have fared 24-6 in non-conference games thus far, including a 6-2 mark in midweek tilts.
  • In the previous matchup with Memphis on March 22, the Rebels claimed a 7-3 win thanks to 2-RBI efforts from Courtney Syrett and Alex Schneider.
  • In that game, Elisha Jahnke got the start, going all but one inning with just two earned runs allowed off five hits.
  • Ole Miss is hitting .327 in non-conference games this season, led by Hailey Lunderman's .480 clip and Dakota Matiko's .417 mark.
  • In midweek matchups at home, Lunderman is hitting .533, while Ashton Lampton has totaled a .462 average.
  • With the win Saturday at South Carolina, Ole Miss tied the school record for wins in a season at 30. One more victory would be a single-season record.
  • The Rebels are also in search of their school record 16th home win, currently at 15-6 on the year at the Ole Miss Softball Complex, a mark that ties the 15 home wins set back in 2010.
  • Three Rebels are nearing single season records, as Lunderman's 58 hits are eight off tying the record (66) set by Lauren Grill in 2010. Miranda Strother has 36 runs this season, six from tying the single-season record set by RT Cantillo in 2013, while her 27 stolen bases are six away from tying Brittany Broome's 2013 record.
  • In last Saturday's series-clinching win at South Carolina, Kayla Landwehrmier tossed potentially the game of her career, using just 67 pitches in a 2-0 shutout over the Gamecocks. She allowed just three baserunners leading the Rebels to the deciding victory in the road SEC series.
  • After returning to the starting lineup in last week's midweek vs. UT Martin, junior transfer Dakota Matiko got back in the groove in the series in Columbia, going 4-for-6 with a double and three RBI.
  • Senior pitcher Madi Osias, 15-5 on the year in the circle, is just two wins from tying the single-season school record set by Amanda Fine in 1997. She's also inched her way to ninth in career strikeouts (257).
  • With the road series win, Ole Miss jumped back inside the RPI top-30 at No. 29 for the second time this season.
  • With 111 stolen bases on the year, the Rebels rank fifth in the NCAA in that category and second in the SEC.
