Four Rebels Set to Begin NCAA Individual Championships

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's tennis will be well represented in the NCAA Individual Championships beginning Wednesday in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with two players in the singles and one doubles team in the tournament.
Sophomore Gustav Hansson will make his debut in the singles championship against North Carolina's Brayden Schnur at 9 a.m. Senior Stefan Lindmark was a second alternate and ended up making the field for the first time in his career. He will face 9-16 seed Thai-Son Kwiatkowski of Virginia in the first round at 4:30 p.m.
In doubles, sophomore Zvonimir Babic and freshman Filip Kraljevic will start their bid for a national championship Thursday against Schnur and his partner Jack Murray. Times for doubles will be announced Wednesday.
All matches will be played at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center and feature live scoring and live video.
Notables…
• This marks the first NCAA singles appearance for sophomore Gustav Hansson and senior Stefan Lindmark.
• Hansson comes in ranked No. 39 in the nation with a 25-10 record. He posted the second-best SEC record (9-3) on his way to earning All-SEC first team honors. Most recently, Hansson was named the ITA Southern Region Player to Watch.
• Lindmark earned All-SEC second team honors, marking the second consecutive year for him to be honored by the league. He owns a 20-13 overall record. With his match-clinching win against Denver in the NCAA First Round, Lindmark earned his 80th career victory.
• Ole Miss is one of 16 schools with multiple players in the singles field.
• Zvonimir Babic and Filip Kraljevic are ranked No. 14 in the nation with an 11-9 record. The duo beat two of the seeded teams during the regular season and had match point against top-seeded Florida when the Gators clinched the doubles point.
What's at stake?...
Besides the obvious quest of winning a national championship players can earn All-America honors by advancing to the round of 16 in singles or the quarterfinals in doubles.
