Head Coach Matt Insell Reflects on Pat Summitt

Ole Miss head coach Matt Insell reflects on the impact of former Tennessee head coach Pat Summitt on the game of basketball. His thoughts are below:

"It's a sad day for women's basketball, but really a sad day for all of basketball because Pat Summitt paved the way for a lot of coaches and for a lot of student-athletes.

"Women's basketball before Pat Summit was not what it is today, by any means. The opportunities that our players have today with the facilities, financial support, academic support and really all of the support our student-athletes have now, much of that is because of Coach Summitt and the work that she did at an early stage of her career.

"She will be deeply missed. She is somebody that was very special to me in my development. I followed her career my whole life, from early on as a young child learning what basketball was, all the way up to coaching against her. I will always cherish those moments of talking to her and getting advice from her, as well as the moments of playing against her.

"Very seldom does someone pass away and the world stands still, but today for Coach Summitt, the world stood still."
