Rebels Lend a Hand
1/11/2017 | Rifle
OXFORD, Miss-The Ole Miss Rifle team returned from the holidays to help serve good food and encouragement to the Oxford community on Tuesday at the Stone Center with the More Than a Meal Organization.
More Than a Meal helps men, women and children in Oxford get back on their feet by providing nutritious meals in a welcoming environment, educational tutoring to school age children and adults and essential health toiletries.
Each week the program welcomes a new speaker or local organization to join them. This week, it was the Ole Miss Rifle team's chance to use their platform to make an impact on the community they compete for.
"The whole team, myself included, really enjoyed volunteering with More Than a Meal yesterday," head coach Marsha Beasley said. "The event was well organized and was a great chance for us to interact with the community and spend some time with Oxford residents."
All members of the rifle team participated in this event and focused on the influence their presence made in each interaction shared throughout the evening. Be sure to watch The Season on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. CT for more on this.
The Rebels return to action Saturday hosting Murray State and Kentucky at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center. Action begins at 8 a.m. and fans can enjoy free breakfast from Chick-fil-A.
