OXFORD, Miss. - With a new year in place and offseason training on the horizon, the Ole Miss volleyball team welcomes transfer Delaney Gallagher of Nashville, Tennessee, head coach Steven McRoberts announced Monday.
A 6-2 middle blocker, Gallagher comes to the Rebels from Middle Tennessee State, where she spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
"I am very excited to add Delaney to our roster," McRoberts said. "From the minute I talked to her, I could tell that she is a competitor. We are adding another quality player at our middle blocker position. I'm glad she is coming in this spring to get to know the team, work with the coaches and get in a full semester of weights and conditioning."
As a freshman at MTSU, Gallagher played in 18 matches. This past season she started 24 matches at middle blocker and led the team with 67 total blocks and 24 service aces. Gallagher capped the season with a career-high 15 kills at Florida International and 10 kills against North Texas, while averaging a .315 hitting percentage combined for both contests.
During her high school career at Hume-Fogg (rated No. 1 high school in Tennessee), Gallagher earned All-District honors three straight years, including first team in 2012 and 2013. She was named to the All-District Tournament Team on her way to Hume-Fogg finishing runner-up in the Tennessee State Championship. Gallagher was named District Tournament MVP and earned all-region tournament honors in 2014.
