OXFORD, Miss. -- Sitting smack-dab in the middle of the Fall season, Ole Miss softball recently received some good news on the academic front of things. Not only were the Rebels announced as a recipient of the Easton/NFCA Academic Team Award, but four players have also been tabbed All-America Scholar Athletes by the NFCA.

The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across seven membership divisions, as student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA or better earn NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete status. Garnering the laurel are current Rebels Elisha Jahnke and Paige McKinney as well as departed seniors Dakota Matiko and Miranda Strother.

In total, a record 7,351 softball players across the seven membership divisions earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2016-17 academic year. Meanwhile, 149 Division I institutions captured the academic team award.
