Rebels to Host No. 1 Florida on Superhero Night

OXFORD, Miss. â€"
Ole Miss volleyball is calling all superheroes to unite and join them Friday at 6:30 p.m., at the Gillom Sports Center as the Rebels face the No. 1 team in the nation, Florida.

Promotions…
Fans are encouraged to dress in their best superhero gear and help the Rebels defend their home court against the Gators. The first 250 fans will receive a superhero fidget spinner.

Quick hits…
• Ole Miss dropped a tough five-setter at Arkansas and then a 3-0 match at Missouri on the road this past weekend to fall to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in the SEC.
• Junior libero Caroline Adams posted 28 digs on the weekend to eclipse 300 for the second straight year with 307 presently. She currently has 765 career digs and needs three to move into the top 10 in the rally era.
• The Rebels lead the SEC in digs per set at 16.58, rank second in opponent hitting percentage (.174), fifth in assists per set (12.62) and fifth in kills per set (13.55).
• Several Rebels rank among the league leaders in various categories. Caroline Adams ranks sixth in the SEC in digs per set (4.04) and Nayo Warnell ranks seventh in hitting percentage (.363). In SEC matches only, Kate Gibson is tied for third in service aces with 0.42 per set and ranks eighth in points per set (3.83). Warnell is ranked 10th in blocks per set for SEC matches with 1.17.
• Kate Gibson leads the SEC with 13 double-doubles and owns 38 for her career. Lexi Thompson owns the career record (46) at Ole Miss and ranks second in the SEC with 12 double-doubles.
• The Rebels will welcome the No. 1 team in the nation, Florida, Friday at 6:30 p.m. This marks the second time in the history of the program for Ole Miss to host a No. 1 ranked team. They hosted the Gators on October 29, 2010, when they were also ranked No. 1.

Scouting Florida…
Ranked No. 1 in the country, Florida is undefeated (13-0, 5-0) heading into the weekend. One of the Gators' middle blockers, Rachael Kramer, was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week after their wins over Texas A&M and Georgia last week. Kramer totaled 14 blocks and hit .306. She leads the SEC in hitting percentage (.434). The Gators held Georgia to a .075 hitting percentage making it the fourth time this year Florida held its opponent under a .100 clip.

Rebels vs. Gators…
Florida leads the all-time series 43-6. The Gators won both matches last year, 3-1 in Oxford and 3-0 in Gainesville.

Last meeting…
In their last meeting on Oct. 28, 2016, Ole Miss lost by a combined seven points in all three sets to Florida (22-25, 23-25, 25-27). Senior Kate Gibson posted a match-high 20 kills, which ranks tops among three-set matches in program history. Senior Lexi Thompson recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 11 digs and sophomore Emily Stroup posted seven kills, four digs and two blocks.

Up next…
Following the match against Florida, the Rebels will head to Columbia, South Carolina for a Sunday match at South Carolina. First serve is set for 12:30 p.m. CT and the match can be seen on SECN+ via the WatchESPN app.
