Rebels March on at ITA Southern Regionals

AUBURN, Ala. â€" Ole Miss women's tennis is guaranteed to have a player in the semifinals of singles at the ITA Southern Regionals and will have two doubles teams vying for a spot in the final Sunday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
Hartono, Jandric advance in singles…
Top-seeded Arianne Hartono booked her place in the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Magda Adaloglou of Mississippi State, seeded 9-16. Hartono has yet to drop a set in three matches. Her teammate, junior Tea Jandric, also reached the quarterfinals beating Jessica Golovin of LSU 6-2, 6-4. Hartono and Jandric will face each other Sunday at 11 a.m.
The Rebels narrowly missed having three players in the quarterfinals, as freshman Sabina Machalova lost a close match 7-5 in the third to 9-16 seeded Eden Richardson of LSU.
Two doubles teams into semifinals…
Ole Miss had three doubles teams reach the round of 16, and two of them advanced to the semifinals. The top-seeded duo of Arianne Hartono and Alexa Bortles dropped only three games in two matches. They took out Kimberley Gintrand and Luca Fabian of Alabama 8-1 in the round of 16 and then downed 5-8 seeded Magda Adaloglou and Janina Braun of Mississippi State 8-2.
Natalie Suk and Sabina Machalova defeated Charoline Erlandsson and Phonexay Chitdara of McNeese State 8-3 in the round of 16 and then cruised past Ivone Alvaro and Sade Atkinson of Tulane 8-2 in the quarterfinals.

"Pretty solid day for us today. I thought we played some very good doubles, especially in the quarterfinal matches, with both Arianne and Alexa as well as Natalie and Sabina beating some very good teams soundly. In singles Tea continues to shine, playing some of her best tennis of her career. Arianne also played extremely well, beating Mississippi State's top freshman in two quick sets. Sabina battled for 2 1/2 hours and unfortunately came up just short, 7-5 in the third. We are excited to have two teams in the semifinals of doubles as well as two players in the quarterfinals of singles."
