Volleyball Welcomes Arkansas Sunday

OXFORD, Miss.
- Football isn't the only Ole Miss team playing Arkansas this weekend. Volleyball continues a three-match homestand Sunday welcoming the Razorbacks to the Gillom Athletics Performance Center for a 1:30 p.m. match.

For those fans who live out of town, the match will be streamed on SEC Network+ and can be viewed via the WatchESPN app with Seth Austin and Britney McLaughlin on the call.

Sunday is National Cat Day and the first 250 fans will receive a free cat t-shirt. Bring the family to the match then stick around for postgame autographs & "Kids Court" sponsored by Belles and Beaus.

Quick Hits…
• Ole Miss lost to Missouri 3-1 Wednesday night and are now 14-10 overall and 5-6 in the SEC.
• In this week's RPI, the Rebels are No. 56, while Arkansas is No. 40.
• The Rebels averaged 17.50 digs and 15.25 kills per set against Missouri.
• The Rebels posted their most service aces in SEC play this year with 8 against Missouri.
• Senior Kate Gibson posted her SEC-leading 16th double-double of the season with 19 kills and 14 digs.
• Sophomore Emily Stroup tallied her seventh double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. She also had 3 blocks and 2 service aces.
• Senior Lexi Thompson added her 14th double-double of the season with 11 kills and 12 digs.
• Sophomore Nayo Warnell notched 10 kills on a .353 clip.
• Senior Kate Gibson is closing in on her 1,000th kill and 1,000th dig at Ole Miss. She needs six kills to reach 1,000 at Ole Miss, which would rank sixth all-time. She currently ranks seventh with 994 kills. Gibson needs 88 digs for her 1000th dig at Ole Miss and presently ranks eighth with 912.
• Sophomore Nayo Warnell is close to breaking into the top 10 at Ole Miss for total blocks with 164 so far. She needs 16 to get there.
• This will mark the second of two meetings this year against Arkansas. The first meeting on Oct. 6, went the distance, with the Razorbacks holding on for a 3-2 win, 15-13 in the fifth set. The last time the two teams met in Oxford (2016), the Rebels won in five. In fact, the last three meetings have gone five sets.

Scouting Arkansas…
Arkansas comes into the match 15-7 overall and 5-5 in the SEC. They are coming off a 3-1 loss at Georgia on Wednesday. The Razorbacks are led by Pilar Victoria who leads the SEC and NCAA in kills per set (5.79). With her 16th kill at Georgia, Victoria became the 16th member of the Razorback's 1,000-kill club.

Rebels vs. Razorbacks…
Arkansas leads the all-time series 30-12, but the Rebels have won three of the last four. Arkansas won the earlier this year, 3-2 in Fayetteville. Ole Miss held off the Razorbacks rally last year for a 3-2 win (25-15, 20-25, 25-14, 20-25, 15-10) in their only meeting in Oxford.

Last meeting…
For the third consecutive meeting, Ole Miss and Arkansas went the distance, with the Razorbacks holding off the Rebels 3-2 (18-25, 25-13, 13-25, 25-23, 12-15) on Oct. 8 in Fayetteville. Senior Kate Gibson posted 16 kills and 18 digs and senior Lexi Thompson finished with 18 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Emily Stroup threw in a double-double of 13 kills and 14 digs and hit .257. Sophomore Nayo Warnell tallied 12 kills on a .500 attack percentage and added 5 blocks.

Last time out…
Ole Miss and Missouri split the first two sets, but the Tigers rallied to win the third and then claimed the fourth set to escape with a 3-1 win (18-25, 25-18, 25-27, 23-25) Wednesday at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center. Senior Kate Gibson posted her SEC-leading 16th double-double of the season with 19 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore Emily Stroup tallied her seventh double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. She also had 3 blocks and 2 service aces. Lexi Thompson added her 14th double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs, while sophomore Nayo Warnell finished with 10 kills on a .353 clip.

An exclusive club for Gibson/Thompson…
Currently in Division I, there are 27 members of the 1,000-Kill, 1000-Dig Club and six players are less than 100 digs away from joining the group. Houston Baptist and Ole Miss are the only teams to boast two members of the elite group.
