Ole Miss Falls to Georgia on the Road

ATHENS, Ga. -- Despite 13 kills on a .478 clip from sophomore Emily Stroup, the Ole Miss volleyball team fell to Georgia 3-0 here Friday night at the Ramsey Center to snap a five-match win streak in the series.
Georgia led 15-12 at the media timeout of the first set. They maintained their lead, 18-14, as Ole Miss called timeout. The Rebels went on an 8-4 run to tie it at 22-22. The Bulldogs grabbed their first set point, 24-23, but sophomore Nayo Warnell stepped up and put one down to tie it again. Georgia gained another set point on a service error and then a kill from T'ara Ceasar, who had eight kills in the set.
In set two, the Rebels led 15-14 at the media timeout, but Georgia later gained a 22-20 lead forcing Ole Miss to call timeout. The Bulldogs never relinquished their hold, finishing off the set 25-22 to take a 2-0 lead overall.
Ole Miss jumped out to a 10-4 lead in set three, but the Bulldogs went on a 4-0 to get within two as the Rebels called their first timeout. From there it was a back and forth affair with neither side holding more than a one-point lead until Georgia went ahead 21-18 forcing the Rebels to use their final timeout. The Bulldogs closed out the set on a 4-2 run for 25-20 and the match.
