Volleyball Ready for Postseason

OXFORD, Miss. -- For the first time in seven years, the Ole Miss volleyball team will play a postseason match, as the Rebels face Stephen F. Austin in the first round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championships Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center.

Tickets for tomorrow's NIVC game will only be available for purchase at the entrance of Gillom and they will be $5 per person. Student tickets will be free courtesy of head coach Steven McRoberts.

• Ole Miss is in postseason play for the fourth time in program history and the first time since 2010.
• This is the fourth all-time meeting between the Rebels and Stephen F. Austin. The last meeting took place in 2013 in the TCU/Nike Molten Invitational with Ole Miss winning 3-0.
• Ole Miss defeated South Carolina 3-1 in their final regular season match to sweep the season series.
• The Rebels have posted four straight winning seasons for the first time in three decades.

A win against Stephen F. Austin would be the Rebels' first postseason victory in school history.

Rebels in the postseason...
This is Ole Miss' fourth trip to the postseason and first since 2010. The Rebels made the NCAA Tournament in 2006, 2007 and 2010.

Scouting Stephen F. Austin...
Stephen F. Austin (27-6) won the Southland Conference regular season but then the Ladyjacks were upset in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament. The Ladyjacks are led by middle blocker Mackenzee Hanna, who is hitting .350 and averaging 1.00 blocks per set.

Rebels vs. Ladyjacks...
Ole Miss owns a 2-1 series lead against Stephen F. Austin. In their last meeting, the Rebels defeated the Ladyjacks 3-0 in 2013 at the TCU/Nike Molten Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.

Last time out...
Last Wednesday Ole Miss honored seniors Kate Gibson and Lexi Thompson for their record-setting careers and then the duo helped the Rebels defeat South Carolina 3-1 (25-11, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19). Gibson posted her SEC-leading 20th double-double with 16 kills and 20 digs, while also adding 3 service aces. Thompson chipped in 8 kills and 13 digs, a service ace and 3 blocks. The seniors had plenty of help as well, with sophomore Emily Stroup tallying her 11th double-double of the season with a career-high 23 kills on a .319 clip and 13 digs.
