FULLERTON, Calif. - Ole Miss softball shutout Loyola Marymount, 2-0, in its season opener Friday at the Easton Invitational. Game two against Cal State Fullerton was canceled due to rain in the area.

Game One - Ole Miss 2, Loyola Marymount 0
Junior Kaitlin Lee dominated in her Division I debut against LMU, going the distance with just one hit allowed on 68 pitches.
Lee cruised through the first four innings without allowing a baserunner, and officially finished the contest facing just two hitters over the minimum. She finished with two strikeouts in the game, and gave up just the leadoff single in the fifth inning.
Offensively, the Rebels strung together nine hits including two each from Elantra Cox, Kylan Becker and Miranda Strother. Brittany Finney, Kaylee Horton and Alex Schneider also tallied one hit each, while Paige McKinney entered as a pinch runner and scored once.
Becker broke the scoreless tie in the third when she roped a solo home run to straightaway center, the first of her career, putting Ole Miss on top 1-0 in the third.
An inning later, Cox punched an RBI single up the middle, scoring McKinney who pinch ran for Courtney Syrett after she reached on a leadoff walk.

- Ole Miss evened up the series with the Lions, 1-1, after the first meeting between the two schools since 2009.
- The Rebels moved to 10-11 all-time in series openers.
