No. 29 Ole Miss Continues Play At Querencia Cabo Collegiate

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico - Ole Miss sophomore Braden Thornberry posted a 1-over par 72 Monday at Querencia Country Club to lead No. 29 Ole Miss in the second round of the Querencia Cabo Collegiate.
Thornberry rolled in three birdies and finished the front nine at 2-under to end the day tied for 12th headed into the final round. Thornberry is in the hunt for his sixth top-10 finished this season.
Senior Ben Wolcott fired a birdie on both the front and back nine to finish 2-over par 73 on the day and tied for 26th place. Wolcott is searching for his 20th top-20 finish of his career. Sophomore Josh Seiple rolled in a team-high five birdies on the day and posted a score of 4-over par 75 to finish tied for 36th through two rounds. Freshman Brody Blackmon birdied the 539 yard, par-5 No. 15 to finish 5-over 76 on the round. Sophomore Beau Briggs carded three birdies to finish the day at 2-over par and tied for 36th overall as an individual. Junior Kerry Sweeney finished the second round with a score of 7-over par.
"We had way too many unforced errors and compounded mistakes today," said Rebel head coach Chris Malloy. "You can't afford to do that against a field of teams like this. We have three guys giving us a chance to be successful. Unfortunately, we need someone else to step up. I have confidence that this group will respond and have a better round tomorrow."
Ole Miss completed the second round with a team score of 13-over par 296 and is in 13th place, leading California by six strokes. No. 10 Oklahoma State leads a field with 11 top-50 teams at 16-under par and Steven Chervony of No. 19 Texas leads a field including 25 top-100 players at 8-under par.
