Ole Miss Tied For First Headed Into Final Round

SECOND ROUND RESULTS
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Senior Ben Wolcott fired a 4-under 68 Monday to gain a share of the overall lead with fellow Rebel Braden Thornberry, who posted a 3-under 69, to lead No. 25 Ole Miss into a tie for first place with one round remaining at Hootie at Bulls Bay.
The duo is tied for first with a two-round score of 9-under par 135. Wolcott tied the lowest second round score and is in contention for his second-consecutive tournament win. After firing the opening round's lowest score, Thornberry is in contention for his fourth win of the year. Wolcott is the tournament leader in scoring on par-3s at 2-under and Thornberry leads in scoring on par-4s at 4-under. The duo are No. 1 and 2 in birdies tallied with 14 for Wolcott and 12 for Thornberry.
"Another good day for the team," said Rebel head coach Chris Malloy. "Ben and Braden certainly led the way but it was a good team effort for sure." Ole Miss climbed to second place out of 15 teams, including 10 top-50 opponents, with the second-best round of the day at 6-under par 282. Ole Miss is tied with No. 31 South Carolina heading into tomorrow's final round.
"If we can clean up a few of our mistakes from today then I know that we have a low one in us tomorrow," said Malloy. "This group has certainly put themselves in a position to win throughout the year, so they know what lies ahead of them tomorrow. I will be very surprised if they don't play great tomorrow."
Senior Noah West birdied two of his final three holes to post a 3-under on the back nine to drop to even-par 72 on the day. Junior Kerry Sweeney rolled in three birdies and improved from his first-round score with a 1-over par 73. Sophomore Josh Seiple birdied the 600-yard par 5 hole No. 4 to post a second-round score of 3-over par 75.
