Wolcott Medals, Leads Rebels To Second Place At Bulls Bay

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Senior Ben Wolcott fired a 3-under 69 in the final round of Hootie at Bulls Bay to capture medalist honors for the second-consecutive tournament and help lead the Rebels to a second-place finish Tuesday.
The senior posted a career-low three round score of 12-under par 204 to win his second tournament of the season, besting fellow Rebel Braden Thornberry by one stroke. Thornberry posted a 2-under par 70 in the final round to finish ahead of South Carolina's Keenan Huskey, last year's champion.
"I am so proud of Ben for getting his second college win," said Rebel head coach Chris Malloy. "Not only his second win but second in a row. He and Braden play some extremely good golf and are pushing themselves each and every time out. Winning is very hard to do in this sport."
Ole Miss finished second of fifteen teams, ahead of eight teams ranked in the top-50 including three Southeastern Conference programs, with a total score of 16-under par 848. The Rebels tallied 60 birdies through three rounds. No.31 South Carolina won for the second-consecutive year.
"We went 13-1 this week in a very good field of teams," said Malloy. "That is pretty darn impressive. We would have loved to come home with the win, but it was still a very successful week. Now we need to regroup and get ready for our next event at Old Waverly"
Sophomore Josh Seiple birdied hole No. 18 to post his best round of the tournament at 1-under par. Seiple tied junior Kerry Sweeney for 51st place. Sweeney and senior Noah West both posted scores of 1-over par 73 in the final round.
The Rebels tee off next at their closest tournament to home at the Old Waverly Collegiate April 3-4.
