OXFORD, Miss. â€" The Ole Miss women's tennis team dropped the doubles point to No. 11 Auburn and could not mount a rally in singles, as the Tigers won 4-0 Wednesday at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

The Rebels started off the doubles with leads on all the courts, but the Tigers rallied to win 6-3 at No. 1 doubles and then posted a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles to take the early 1-0 lead.

Auburn continued its momentum in singles, winning five first sets. First off the court, 77th-ranked Natalie Suk lost to 26th-ranked Alizee Michaud 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. The Tigers increased their lead to 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court six over redshirt freshman Tereza Janatova.

Courts one and five went to third sets, but Auburn closed out the match as Taylor Russo defeated senior Zalina Khairudinova 6-4, 6-1 on court three.

At the net…
• The Rebels are now 13-11 on the year, 3-9 in the SEC
• The Rebels still lead the all-time series with Auburn 27-17
• Tereza Janatova played in just her third SEC match of her career

Thoughts from head coach Mark Beyers…
"Disappointing day. Even though we went 0-2 this past weekend, we played really good tennis. We pushed some really good teams. You never want to go 0-2, but there were a lot of positives. It's frustrating when the other team just wanted it more, fought harder overall. That hurts more than losing. I know we've played a lot of matches and traveled a lot, but it's the same for the other teams in the SEC. Auburn was able to handle that better than we did. We need to figure out a way to do better in those areas on Saturday, because Mississippi State is going to come out here ready to battle just like Auburn did."

Up next…
The Rebels close out the regular season at home with No. 15 Mississippi State Saturday at 1 p.m. It's Senior Day, and the Rebels will honor senior Zalina Khairudinova before the match.
