Men's Tennis Ready for SEC Tournament

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss men's tennis team earned the sixth seed in the SEC Championship and will face the 11th seed, Auburn, Thursday at 8 a.m. CT from Barksdale Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The Rebels concluded the regular season at 15-8 overall and 6-6 in the SEC. They come into the tournament on a seven-match winning streak. Sophomore Fabian Fallert led the Rebels with a 10-1 league record.
Rebels at the SEC Championship…
Ole Miss has reached at least the semifinals of the SEC Championship 17 times, and won the tournament three times (1997, 2008 and 2009). Last year, the Rebels defeated Alabama 4-3 in the second round and then lost to Georiga 4-0 in the quarterfinals.
Last time out…
In their final regular season weekend the Rebels won both matches, starting off with a 7-0 victory against Vanderbilt and following up on Senior Day with a 4-2 win against No. 24 Kentucky.
Scouting Auburn…
After a 7-0 loss to Florida, the Tigers finished the regular season with a 13-14 overall record, 3-9 in the SEC. Thursday morning's lineup for the Tigers includes senior Max Hinnisdaels, who is ranked No. 57 in singles and No. 19 in doubles with senior Connor Huertas del Pino.

The Rebels defeated the Tigers 4-0 earlier this season.

The winner of this match will face the No. 3 seed, Florida, Friday at 8 a.m. CT in the quarterfinals.
Rebels in the rankings…
In the current ITA/Oracle rankings, Ole Miss is No. 28 heading into the SEC Championship. Gustav Hansson moved up to No. 19 in singles with a 20-11 overall record. Fabian Fallert and Grey Hamilton are ranked No. 23 in doubles with a 14-11 overall record.
Fallert on the rise…
Fabian Fallert tied for the second most wins in the SEC (10-1). After 10 straight wins, Fallert heads into the tournament with a 23-6 overall record, 16-3 in dual matches.
SEC rewind…
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Rebels first of three (1997, 2008, 2009) SEC Tournament titles. They won the regular season crown and the tournament titlein 1997. The Rebels were led by All-Americans Johan Hede, Sebastien DeChaunac and Johan Landsberg, who all finished the year ranked inside the top 20. The Rebels downed No. 21 ranked Alabama (4-0), and No. 16 Florida (4-1) on their way to the finals where they upended No. 2 Georgia 4-2. DeChaunac was named the SEC Tournament Most Valuable Player in leading the Rebels to the title.
