CoSIDA Release

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss softball senior Miranda Strother was recognized Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for her success both on the field and in the classroom, earning CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her current institution and be nominated by her sports information director.

Strother is one of four players representing the SEC on the District 6 list, and is the first CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for Ole Miss since 2010 when Corrine Doornberg earned the accolades. She's just the sixth Rebel to land on the academic list and eighth selection in school history.

The Suwanee, Georgia native is the only Rebel to start all 51 games this season, and leads the club with five triples, most of any player in a single season. She leads the team with 25 walks and ranks sixth in the SEC with 22 steals, having been thrown out only twice. She ranks third on the team with 25 RBI, and is just one run from breaking the school's career record (136).

The exercise science major has maintained a career 3.72 GPA, and is a two-time selection to the Academic All-SEC Team.

Strother and the Rebels return to action this weekend at Missouri for the final series of the season, beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m. in Columbia.
