Another doubles title for Scholtz in Zimbabwe…
Another successful week in Zimbabwe for four-time All-American Nik Scholtz as he captured the doubles title with his partner, Zimbabwe's Mark Fynn. The pair, seeded No. 2, did not drop a set on their way to the final showdown against the top seeds, Nathaniel Lammons (USA) and Benjamin Lock (Florida State/Zimbabwe). In the final, Scholtz and Fynn rallied after dropping the first set to win 3-6, 6-1, 10-7.
Scholtz won his third doubles title of the year and 12th overall. In addition to winning the doubles, Scholtz reached the semifinals in singles for the second straight week, after capturing the title the previous week.
This week, Scholtz concludes his stay in Zimbabwe playing in the singles draw. He gets underway Tuesday with the first round against a qualifier from Spain.
Lutjen in Germany…
Two-time All-American Jonas Lutjen was in action last week at the Germany Futures in Kaltenkirchen. He reached the semifinals in doubles with fellow countryman George von Massow.
