GCAA Release

NORMAN, Okla. - Behind a cumulative grade point average of 3.23 during the 2016-17 academic year, the Ole Miss men's golf team was recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America Wednesday afternoon. Due to their success in the classroom, the Rebels were named a GCAA All-Academic Team.

Seven of the nine golfers on the Ole Miss roster earned GPAs eclipsing the 3.0 plateau. The seven Rebels were named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. Sophomore Beau Briggs led the squad with a 3.9 GPA as a business economics major. Briggs, Josh Seiple, Braden Thornberry, Noah West and Ben Wolcott all found themselves on the Southeastern Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll when the list was announced last month. In their first year on campus, freshman Matthew Ruel and junior college transfer Kerry Sweeney landed on the SEC First Year Honor Roll.

This past spring, Ole Miss student-athletes achieved the highest cumulative semester GPA in recorded history with a 3.01.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
