OXFORD, Miss. -
With a backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, the year's first national championship, the ITA Riviera All-American Championships, will get underway Saturday at Pepperdine University with pre-qualifying singles and doubles.

For the 33rd consecutive year, the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California, invites the nation's top Division I women's players to compete in the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships. Vrbenska and Jandric will also team up in pre-qualifying doubles. Senior Natalie Suk, ranked No. 32 in the nation, will begin her quest in qualifying singles and also team up with Machalova in doubles. Fellow senior Arianne Hartono (ranked No. 17) earned a berth in the main draw and will begin her quest for a national championship Oct. 5. Rebels at the All-American….
This year marks the 25th anniversary of four-time All-American Paloma Collantes' first of two All-American singles titles. She also won it in 1994.

What's at stake…
In addition to vying for the All-American national title, players will be competing to secure a berth into the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 1-5, in Palm Desert, California. Singles quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of fall national championship.

Quoting head coach Mark Beyers…
"The All American is one of the most prestigious events of the year for us. The fact that we have six players participating in that tournament, speaks volumes about where this program is right now. It is a great opportunity for our players to measure themselves against the top players in the nation and take a first step towards qualifying for the NCAA tournament in May."
