Ole Miss Women's Basketball #FreshFaceFriday: Crystal Allen
10/19/2018 | Women's Basketball
Allen hails for Fort Worth, Texas
OXFORD, Miss. – In the fifth part of our #FreshFaceFriday series for the 2018-19 Ole Miss Women's Basketball team, we get to know senior guard Crystal Allen.
On her early basketball memories…
"The first moment that I realized I could actually play this game was when I was in about eighth grade and I had people telling me that I was a good basketball player. I thought that I was a good basketball player because I had a little confidence, but I didn't realize that I could actually play Division I basketball. I just kept getting better and then when I got to high school I started to get serious and people were asking if colleges were looking at me, but I didn't have many looks so I had to work harder so I could get more looks and go Division I."
On her game…
"I'm really not the same player as anyone else. I don't really compare my game to a lot of people. I compare my game to myself because each and every day I'm trying to get better than myself."
On her teammates…
"Ever since I started playing basketball I found that as a way to motivate myself, because if I'm standing there not talking to my teammates and encouraging my teammates I kind of look at it as a respect factor. You treat people the way you want to be treated so if I'm down one day, if I'm feeling some type of way, I want someone to pick me up and if I'm feeling like I made a mistake and I can't get over that mistake in my mind, I want somebody to tell me that it's okay so I can move on. So, I feel like I need to do that with my teammates so we can all have a positive energy."
