Marliss Gruver Fall Invitational Final Draws
AUBURN, Ala. -- Women's tennis concluded the Marliss Gruver Fall Invitational held at Auburn University Sunday, with junior Alexa Bortles claiming her flight's consolation singles title.
Bortles defeated Big 12 opponent Julia Deming from Kansas, surrendering just two sets in a 6-2, 6-0 decision.
Sophomore Sabina Machalova fought through her final, dropping the first set 4-6 but forced a third after taking the second set 6-2, but ultimately fell after a 6-3 finale.
Freshman Isolde de Jong retired in her final due to injury.
The Rebels conclude their fall season in early November, traveling to Surprise, Ariz., for the ITA National Fall Championships.
