Women’s Golf Wraps Up Fall Season in Texas

Rebels Finish Fifth; Johnson, Hermansson Tie for 16th
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Ole Miss women's golf team wrapped up their fall season at the Jim West Challenge Monday afternoon, firing a third and final round 290 to finish in fifth place as a team.
The three-day total of 1-over 865 marked the Rebels' lowest 54-hole tournament score of the fall.
Pi-Lillebi Hermansson and Julia Johnson led the way for the Rebels with the duo finishing tied for 16th individually.
Johnson, a sophomore from St. Gabriel, Louisiana, had the highlight of the day for Ole Miss, recording a hole-in-one on the 72nd and final hole of her tournament. The sophomore made her first ever ace on the par-3 4th to move up into the top-15 individually. Johnson went 71-70-74--215 (-1) for her fourth top-20 finish of the fall.
"It felt so good to end the fall season in that way," said Johnson. "After an off day, I'm glad I could put a good swing on the ball."
Hermansson, who had recorded back-to-back rounds of 70, finished the final 18 holes on Monday with a 3-over 75, for a three round total of 215 (-1); Hermansson's best finish of the fall.
"We're pleased with how we finished, but we still have a lot of work to do before our championship season in the spring," assistant coach Drew Belt said. "With our hole-in-one finish from Julia, it will be a great flight back to Oxford."
After a second round 78 yesterday, Conner Beth Ball, rebounded on Monday, firing a 1-under 71 to finish 27th overall. The sophomore from Starkville, Mississippi, finished strong, recording seven pars and two birdies on her final nine holes.
Freshman Ellen Hutchinson-Kay shot a career-best 2-under 70 in the final round. The freshman finished tied for 38th with a three-round total of 223 (76-77-70). Senior Kie Purdom rounded out play for Ole Miss, shooting a 75 to finish tied with Hutchinson-Kay and five others.
After a winter hiatus, the Rebels start their championship season in February for the Bruin Wave Invitational, Feb. 25-26, in San Luis Obispo, California.
