OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss women's golf team will open their spring season Sunday at the Shootout at Shoal Creek in Birmingham, Alabama.

The one-day, 18-hole event will take place at Shoal Creek Golf Club, which will be playing 6,194 yards and par 72.

The Rebels will compete against an All-SEC field at the club, featuring players from Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State.

"We are looking forward to kicking off our spring season this weekend at Shoal Creek," said head coach Kory Henkes. "We have a great group with us who have high expectations for this championship season.  Our team has put in a tremendous amount of work over the break and are really excited to tee it up against a talented field this Sunday."

Henkes will be taking seven Rebels to compete at the event. Julia Johnson will be in the No. 1 position, followed by freshman Ellen Hutchinson-Kay, senior Kie Purdom and sophomores Conner Beth Ball and Macy Holliday.

Julia Johnson was the leader throughout the fall for the Rebels, leading the team in stroke average (72.64) and birdies with 38.

Ellen Hutchinson-Kay has made an immediate impact on the squad. The freshman from Taby, Sweden is second on the team in stroke average (74.07) and rounds under par (5).

Conner Beth Ball is no stranger to the starting five, appearing in the lineup in all five fall events. The sophomore is second on the team in birdies with 33.

Kie Purdom will begin her final spring at Ole Miss coming off her best 54-hole performance of the season, finishing with a three-round score of 223 (+7) at the Jim West Challenge to cap her fall season.

Macy Holliday earned a spot in the lineup for the first time in her Ole Miss career.

Senior Martina Flori and freshman Macy Somoskey will be competing as individuals.

Martina Flori is coming off a career performance for the Rebels at the Cardinal Cup in October. The senior shot a career-best 7-under 65 in the final round to finish runner-up.

Macy Somoskey will be competing for the second time in her young career, with the first time coming back at the Magnolia Invitational last October.

This will mark the first time the Rebels have played at Shoal Creek. The Jack Nicklaus designed course was host to the U.S. Women's Open in 2018 and is considered the top course in Alabama by Golf Digest.

The one and only round begins Sunday morning starting at 9:00 a.m. CT. Final results will be posted through Golfstat.com.
