Rebel Outfielder One of 41 Players Across the Nation Invited
OXFORD, Miss. – Last season, Ole Miss outfielder Kylan Becker had the opportunity to live out the dream of just about any young player that has ever picked up a bat and a ball, playing for Team USA. Becker will once again have the chance to don the Stars and Stripes after being named one of 41 players that have been hand-picked and invited to participate in the 2019 USA Softball Women's National Team Selection Trials to be held January 1-6, at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Florida.
Those athletes who accepted the invitation to try out will vie for 18 spots on the 2019 USA Softball WNT Training Team roster that will compete at the USA Softball International Cup and select international events. The roster will then be trimmed to 15 athletes to participate in the Pan American Games, slated for July 31-August 11 in Lima, Peru.
Becker is one of just nine current college players to be invited, joining Florida's Kelly Barnhill and Amanda Lorenz from the SEC. Additionally, the Miami, Florida native is among seven outfielders listed among the invitees competing for spots.
During the selection process, athletes will participate in position drills as well as simulated games and be evaluated by the USA Softball Women's National Team Selection Committee. Highlighting the list of invitees are three Olympic Medalists: Monica Abbott, Kelly Kretschman and Cat Osterman.
