OXFORD, Miss. -- Former Ole Miss Rebel and 2018 NCAA Champion Arianne Hartono will return to Oxford this weekend. The National Singles Champion will be recognized during the first quarter of Ole Miss' football game against ULM Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

"I'm very excited for Ari to be back in Oxford," head coach Mark Beyers said of the event, "And for her to be recognized for winning the NCAA Championship back in May. She is such a fantastic person and a proud Ole Miss Rebel."

Hartono earned her way to legendary status after capturing the first national title in program history last spring, and will be honored with the Class of 2018 Honda Award, given to one representative annually in the 12 women's NCAA sanctioned sports to honor the best in collegiate athletics.

The Meppel, Netherlands, native was also the first SEC Player of the Year in Ole Miss history and was named the ITA Co-Player of the Year. She won 17 consecutive matches to end her career, including 23 wins against ranked opponents, finishing the season with a No. 2 national ranking by the ITA. Her 37-6 record during her senior campaign tied for second in single-season wins in school history.

Off the court, Ari was a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete and four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member, graduating with a 3.93 GPA and a degree in psychology.

Beyers and assistant coach Grant Roberts will join Hartono on the field for Saturday's festivities.
