TEMPE, Ariz. --
After a successful fall in which they landed a runner-up finish at the ITA South Regional, the Ole Miss Women's Tennis pair of junior Alexa Bortles and freshman Isolde de Jong has upgraded to No. 16 in the national rankings, announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association this past weekend.

Bortles and de Jong began the school year ranked No. 31 in the ITA Poll released in early September and recorded eight wins throughout the fall campaign, battling to a 10-7 tiebreaker over reigning National Champions, Eden Richardson and Jessica Golovin of LSU.

Joining the duo in the ITA Rankings is a trio of singles performers, led by sophomore Sabina Machalova, who finishes the season at No. 68 after beginning the fall at 53. Joining her is redshirt junior Tereza Janatova, who was previously unranked but deservedly landed her way into the No. 112 spot after producing seven victories in a 10-match slate, including a win over Auburn's Jaeda Daniel, ranked 39thin the September ITA Rankings.

Junior Anna Vrbenska also climbed the rankings, moving up eight spots to No. 114. Vrbenska delivered a very strong fall season, with wins over multiple ranked opponents. She also finished with seven victories on her singles slate.

The Rebels begin their spring season in January at the NCTC Invitational in Palm Springs, Calif., and then stay west, traveling to Honolulu for the University of Hawaii Spring Invite.
