California Standout Nyomi Jones Signs with Ole Miss

Speedy Outfielder Added to Talented 2019 Recruiting Class
OXFORD, Miss. – After inking five players on National Signing Day, Ole Miss head softball coach Mike Smith has put another feather in the cap of the 2019 recruiting class with the addition of California speedster Nyomi Jones.
Considered one of the top athletes in the nation, the lightning-quick Jones uses her speed to give opponents fits at the plate, on the base path and in the outfield. Ranked as the No. 32 player in the nation by FloSoftball, Jones is the third top-100 player in the 2019 class to sign with Ole Miss, joining Paige Smith (13) and McKenzie Barbara (70).
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-time letterwinner at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California … ranked No. 32 in the class of 2019 by FloSoftball … helped lead the Monarchs to the 2016 CIF Southern Section Division I Championship, defeating the No. 1 ranked team in the nation in Orange Lutheran … captured Second Team All-Trinity League honors as a sophomore after batting .421 with 15 stolen bases … selected First Team All-Trinity League, First Team All-Orange County and First Team CIF Southern Section Division I All-State as a junior … hit .425 at the plate in 2018 with 21 stolen bases.
PERSONAL: Full name is Nyomi Camille Jones … daughter of Jaymon and Jamila Jones … has three siblings, Nyah, Nyari and Jace … plans to major in economics with an interest in attending law school.
