SURPRISE, Ariz.
 – Ole Miss women's tennis sophomore Sabina Machalova and senior Tea Jandric made quick work of their opponents Thursday, but fell in the Round of 16 consolation bracket at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex on Friday.
 
On Thursday, Machalova, the 53rd ranked player in the latest ITA rankings, dispatched Maria Toran Ribes of Kansas in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. She faced No. 28 Julia Rosenqvist of California on Friday, falling in a close first set, 7-5. Rosenqvist ended the match with a 6-1 victory in the second frame.   
 
No. 92 Jandric advanced by way of walkover of Stanford's Melissa Lord, the 13th ranked player in the country, on Wednesday. Jandric then challenged Vanderbilt's Emily Smith on Friday. Smith edged Jandric in identical 7-5 sets.
 
The No. 4 ranked doubles team of Gabriela Knutson and Miranda Ramirez (Syracuse) advanced past No. 31 Alexa Bortles and Isolde de Jong of Ole Miss by default on Thursday.

Ole Miss begins its spring season on Jan. 12 at the NCTC Invitational in Palm Springs, Calif.
