OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team dropped a close doubles point and five first sets on their way to a 4-0 loss to Tennessee here Sunday at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center to conclude the homestand.

After Tennessee won the No. 1 court 6-1, Tim Sandkaulen and Grey Hamilton earned a 6-3 win on court two to even up the doubles. Finn Reynolds and Cotter Wilson served to stay in it on court three, but the Vols broke for 6-4 and the early 1-0 lead.

The Rebels had some chances in singles to get more than the one first set they got. Hamilton won his first set 6-3, and the two freshmen battled on courts five and six before dropping close sets 7-5 and 7-6(7), respectively.

Unfortunately, Tennessee posted straight set wins on courts three, one and four to close out the match.

At the Net with Head Coach Toby Hansson
"We served 4-5 in the doubles and they played a solid last game to break us for the point. We would love to have that opportunity back, and the next time we will probably close it out and pushed them a little more. On the top courts, the freshmen a good job competing and pushing their opponents. Grey was winning, and Tim's opponent played a really good match. We know he's a good player and that it would be a tough match. He came out on fire and took it to Tim. We're going to put this one behind us do our best to recover and get ready for the next weekend."

On Staying the Course with all the Adversity...
"These guys are not used to losing matches, this is new territory for everyone. We just have to look at the big picture and make the most of every opportunity we have left. We need to get through this little rough patch, be ready to go next weekend and the rest of the regular season, to put ourselves in the position where we can do some damage at the end of the year."

Next up...
The Rebels will travel to Gainesville, Florida March 23 to face the Gators at 5 p.m. CT.
