Rebels Fall to No. 9 Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Ole Miss men's tennis team dropped the opener of their road trip falling to No. 9 Florida Friday evening at the Ring Tennis Complex.
Florida took the doubles point and then picked up singles wins on courts three, five and six to close out the match.
Zvonimir Babic and Filip Kraljevic had a deuce point to get back to 2-2 on court one against Florida's No. 1 tandem of Alfredo Perez and Johannes Ingildsen, but didn't get it. The Gator duo went on to win 6-1. Grey Hamilton and Tim Sandkaulen took down No. 32 ranked McClain Kessler and Duarte Vale on court two, 6-2. The point came down to court three where Finn Reynolds and Cotter Wilson served to keep it going, but the No. 8 ranked pairing of Chase Perez-Blanco and Oliver Crawford broke to win it 6-4.
The teams split the first sets in singles with Hamilton, Kraljevic and Sandkaulen winning theirs.
The Gators picked up a straight set win against Babic on court three to go up 2-0.
Kraljevic downed 87th-ranked Vale 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles to get the Rebels on the board; however, Florida closed out the match with straight set wins on courts five and six against Rebel freshmen, Cotter Wilson and Finn Reynolds.

"Overall we came out with good energy in doubles and nearly got that first point today. We were able to put the disappointment of not getting the doubles point behind us and really started off well in singles winning three first sets. I felt like we competed well all day, but just came up a bit short in the end against a solid Florida team."
